Handstitched Textile Picture Workshop
July 8 @ 10:30 am - 3:30 pm
One event on July 8, 2018 at 10:30am
We’re delighted to welcome visiting teacher Debra Thompson (www.facebook.com/vintagemissclementine/) to teach this one off workshop. Aimed at all levels of sewing ability, your work of art will be created using all hand stitching so no sewing machines needed.
Using a mix of new, and not so new, textiles and threads enjoy the pleasure of creating your own hand stitched, completely unique, textile collage. From start to finish you will be guided in making a decorative item that will inspire you to create lots more using your own scraps of fabric. All items required for the workshop will be provided, including a frame for the finished item. If you have some precious or favourite textile scraps that you would like to use then please bring them along. There will be no set picture or design for you to follow, so let your creativity loose! You may want to bring something with you for inspiration, perhaps a photograph, piece of china, special greetings card etc. Or create something completely abstract in colours you love. A basic sewing kit may be useful, but not essential.
As Debra is travelling some way to teach you, this group will be larger than usual, with a maximum of 10 participants. However, as it’s taking place on a Sunday, we’re making our entire workshop and tea room space available for this special event.
Freshly made tea/coffee and tasters of delicious home made cake will be provided during both morning and afternoon sessions, and you’re welcome to purchase more throughout the day. There’ll be a 30 minute lunch break, and we suggest you bring a packed lunch with you or purchase something suitable from the nearby Waitrose on the day.
Bookings can be made online (see ticket below), in person or over the phone. Full payment is required with booking and is subject to our usual terms and conditions.
