Join Sarah Aumayer for this special jewellery workshop. Make your choice of pendants, brooches, and earrings in beautiful dichroic glass, all supplied by Sarah. The nature of the glass means it shimmers, shines, and changes colour as light shines on it. This would be the perfect opportunity to spend time with Mum or your friends, or make something totally unique for a very special gift or for yourself of course.

We’ve structured this workshop slightly differently to give you more flexibility about how many items you make and how much you spend. The basic cost is £20, payable on booking your place. This includes one brooch or pendant. Further pendants or brooches costs an additional £8, earrings cost  £14 per pair. These extra items are payable on the day. The pendants will be finished ready to hang on a chain (not supplied) and the brooches will be supplied with a suitable ‘pin’, both in a silver finish (not sterling silver). The earrings are finished with an ear ‘hook’, creating a drop earring. We have a selection of chains in different lengths available to purchase at very reasonable prices.

Some people will be able to make these items very quickly, others will want to spend more time creating designs etc. The maximum time allowed is 1.5 hours, but you may finish your items much more quickly. It’s really up to you how long it takes and how many pieces you make, within the time constraints of the workshop.

At the beginning of the workshop, Sarah talks you through basic information about the glass and how to construct your jewellery. Please be aware the glass is sharp and must be handled carefully. Some glue, including superglue, is used to stabilise the glass during transportation. This will burn off when the items are fired. Sarah takes your finished creations away to fuse in her kiln, returning them for collection approx. 2 weeks later.

Please note these workshops are NOT suitable for anyone under 14. Young people under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by an adult working with them throughout the duration of this workshop.

About half way through the workshop we’ll provide you with a FREE hot drink from our tea room menu, plus some tasters of our delicious homemade cake. You are, or course, welcome to purchase a drink and/or cake  when you arrive. Why not stay after your workshop and enjoy a browse around our beautiful shop. During the summer months we also offer a delicious cream tea in our tea room (subject to availability). All of our workshops take place within our welcoming shop and tea room, where you can be inspired by the work of our many local talented artists and makers.

After creating your beautiful, unique jewellery, Sarah will take them away, fuse them in her kiln and return them to The Blue Room for collection after about 2 weeks. We’ll call you to let you know when they’re ready for collection.

Please note the photo shows examples of pendants that can be made. You can see more of Sarah’s very popular range of fused glass jewellery here
