November 17 @ 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

One event on November 17, 2018 at 12:30pm

A brand new offering from Gill Morgan in our series of machine sewn patchwork workshops. Aimed at those who’ve had a go at basic patchwork and would like to make something extra special. This Christmas patchwork table runner will make the perfect addition to your Christmas decor or a beautiful gift for someone special. The specific patchwork skills covered in this workshop are foundation paper piecing (FPP) and the flip and stitch technique.

A full list of materials you need to bring with you can be found below. We recommend using 100% cotton fabric. The finished size of your table runner will be approx 43″ x 14″. You’ll need to bring your own sewing machine with all it’s cables and operating instructions. If you have them please bring a cutting mat, rotary cutter, quilting rulers, sewing clips (these are not essential as Gill will have hers’ available for you to share on the day). You’ll also need a basic sewing kit. We stock a range of fat quarters and remnants from @SewScrumptious but cannot guarantee to have suitable materials for this project available on the day, so we strongly suggest you look for fabric in advance of the workshop.

  • 1/2 yard of 44″ wide fabric in a small all over print for the border and back
  • 1 fat quarter for the trees
  • 1 fat quarter for the background of the middle panel
  • scraps of fabric for the tree trunks and decorations and bondaweb or these can be supplied on the day
  • A length of neutral fabric 44″ by 9″ (please cut this to size before the workshop) and a small amount to complete the middle panel (this will not be seen). Fabric from an old duvet cover or similar would be ideal.
  • Machine thread

The workshop will last about 3 hours depending on the experience and speed of the group. Gill will provide some specialist materials for which you’ll need to oay her direct on the day. These will cost no more than £1 or £2.

What do our customers say about our workshops?

What was the best thing about the workshop?

I am not very artistic , so it caters for all levels, and still the end product looks good. (Fused Glass, February 2018)

Really helpful teaching and nice small group. Loved it! (Claire, Beginners Machine Sewing January 2018)

Very enjoyable relaxed atmosphere, learning new techniques. (Jan, Weave Pattern and Texture on a Peg Loom, January 2018)

Making something I’m proud of, learning new skills, and the social side. Cheese scone recommended! (Jan, January 2018, Beginners Patchwork)

A good way to spend time with friends; the finished product; swishing around with my new skirt; learning how to use my sewing machine. (Mar, Darcy, Lizzie, and Isabella. January 2018, Children’s private group sewing)

Lovely relaxing thing to do in the build up to Christmas. (Claire, Fused Glass, December 2017)
